Connor Evans Commits to NCAA D-III Northland College

The Kirkland Lake GoldMiners are thrilled to announce another NCAA commitment, as defenceman Connor Evans has agreed to a deal to attend Northland College, in Ashland, Wisconsin, joining fellow GoldMiner graduate, Marsh Nikitin in the NCAA D-III Lumberjacks lineup.

GoldMiners Head Coach & General Manager Ryan Wood says, “Connor was the backbone of our d core”, Coach Wood adds, with a young inexperienced d group, “having Connor back there showed the young guys what it takes to be a legit #1 guy”.

The 20 year-old Uxbridge, Ontario native, joined the GoldMiners midway through last season, from the Stouffville Spirit of the OJHL, Connor notched 18 pts in 24 games, including 4 goals. All told, in 51 games split between the two clubs Connor tallied 33 pts, including 11 goals.

Coach Ryan Wood says ,” Northland Head Coach Seamus Gregory and the Lumberjacks are getting  not only a solid player, but a remarkable person,” who not only “plays the game hard, but also respects the game and his opponents.”

Connor Evans and Marsh Nikitin may find familiar faces in the Northland College locker room, with 6 other former NOJHL’ers on the roster.

Connor becomes the 4th GoldMiners grad to get a US deal joining Captain Marsh Nikitin at Northland College, Max Cavallini at Lake Forest College and Tyler Fyfe at Adrian College.

Fun fact, Northland has Lake Forest College (Max Cavallini), Aurora (Ashton Amaya) Wisconsin River Falls (Blake Anderson) & Concordia (Turk Scatliff) , all former GoldMiners, on the schedule.
