IROQUOIS FALLS, Ont. – Riding the shutout goaltending of Brodie Haylock, and getting a couple of tallies from Lucas Peever, the Iroquois Falls Storm went on to blank the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners 4-0 Saturday in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League encounter at Jus Jordan Arena.

Getting off to a solid start, Iroquois Falls staked themselves to a two-goal lead by the midway point of the opening frame.

Andrew Scott got the Storm going offensively at 6:58 as he wheeled down the left wing and went hard to the net where he made a crafty move and sent a backhand over the pad of Gold Miners’ goalkeeper Graydon Mole.

The home side then tacked on another three minutes later as Peever jammed in a loose puck off a Max Jugnauth attempt from up top.

Second period play saw a tight-checking session that went scoreless as Iroquois Falls carried their 2-0 lead into the third period.

There, Peever potted his second of the evening, as he buried his own rebound from a sharp angle, for a shorthanded marker 33 seconds in.

Special teams helped the hosts tack on another with Andrew Cho clicking on the power play as he lifted in a bouncing puck off a Brayden Hindman point shot.

Haylock did the rest to register his first NOJHL shutout, helping the Storm improve to 10-25-0-1 on the season.

In defeat, the Gold Miners dropped to 7-23-3-1.
