TIMMINS, ON – Harry Clark scored a goal and added two helpers as the Timmins Rock edged the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners 5-3 at the McIntyre arena on Wednesday night.

The Rock opened the scoring late in the first on a power play as Nolan Ring scored his 11th of the campaign near the 15 minute mark of the opening frame.

The Rock added to the lead just over three minutes into the second as Mason Svarich netted his 30th beating Gold Miners starter Graydon Mole to make it 2-0 for the home side. On that tally the Rock’s Harry Clark recorded his 50th assist on the season.

Clark then scored his 26th of season to make it 3-0 Rock at 12:22 of the second period.

However the Gold Miners, thumped 13-2 at the McIntyre Arena last Friday, had no quit as Inde Abresch and Riley Babich scored goals less than 30 seconds apart late in the second on rookie Rock netminder Dryden Riley to make it 3-2 Rock after 40.

Rock local product Thomas Beard gave the locals some breathing room as he notched his 13th of the season to make it 4-2 just over 7 minutes into the third.

Henry McLellan made it 5-2 late in the third for the Rock.

Noah Woodward cut into the lead less than a minute later as he scored his 17th of the campaign to round out the scoring.

With the win, Timmins improves to 27-11-2 while the Kirkland Lake falls to 7-28-4-1.
