TIMMINS, ON – The Timmins Rock scored two power play goals in the second period as they went on to a 4-0 win over the visiting Kirkland Lake Gold Miners at the McIntyre Arena on Tuesday night.

The win was the Rock’s 8th straight as they were paced by Liam Wells and Harry Clark who had one goal and one assist each.

Rock veteran netminder Patrick Boivin made 19 saves for his first shutout of the season and the 10th of his NOJHL career.

The Rock got going in the late stages of the first when Jaden Lyons made a nice individual effort rushing down the left side, and then made a power move to the net beating Miners goalie Graydon Mole for a 1-0 Rock lead for the only goal of the opening period.

Early in the second, it was Liam Wells who built up speed through the neutral zone and came down the left wing and ripped a quick release past Mole for a 2-0 lead at 4:58 on the power play.

The Rock cashed in on the power play later in the period as Wells and Harry Clark combined to feed Nolan Ring in the slot and he beat Mole to make it 3-0 at 13:14 of the middle frame.

Late in the period, Harry Clark blasted a shot by Mole, on a nifty 3 on 2, to give the home side a 4-0 lead at 19:46 of the second.

The two sides exchanged chances in the third period as the Miners made a push but could not solve Boivin in a scoreless third period.

With the win, the Rock moved to a perfect 10 and 0 against the Gold Miners this season.

That win improves the Rock record to 32-11-2-0 while the Gold Miners drop to 8-32-4-1.
