Kirkland Lake Goldminers Head Coach & GM Kyle Smart continues his roster building, adding ’04 forward Chad van Weelie, yes, the younger brother of former Miners forward Connor. Chad spent the past 2 seasons with the Etobicoke Bruins.
Coach Smart says ”Chad is a different player than his brother, more of a straight ahead physical forward, that would rather go through than around you,” even though he’s not the biggest guy, Smart adds “he’s a kid that will be first on the forecheck, hunting defensemen.” He’ll bring an energy that every team needs to succeed.
