Ex-Kirkland Lake Gold Miner Austin Rust has committed to play for Adrian College in the NCAA.

KIRKLAND LAKE - Ex- KL Gold Miner Austin Rust will be playing at a very high level of competition next season.

Rust has committed to Adrian College, an NCAA school near his home in Algomac Michigan.

Speaking with the Northern News, the 2014 NOJHL playoff MVP says he is looking forward to playing with Adrian and he looks back on Kirkland Lake with fond memories.

“Im really excited for next year and the opportunity to play at the next level next year.

It’s going be a big shift but a welcome shift to being so close to home for once.

I really could not have asked for more this season. I played with a great group of guys and had the most fun I’ve ever had on and off the ice this year.

The town of kl was awesome. It was so beneficial to have the community rally around us and support us in the game. We really needed that extra help, and could not have asked for a better town to live and play hockey in.
