KIRKLAND LAKE, Ont. – Logan Fredericks had a pair of goals and two assists to help pace the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners to a 7-3 victory over the Iroquois Falls Eskis Friday in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play at the Joe Mavrinac Community Complex.

The two sides exchanged two tallies apiece in the opening 20 minutes with Joel Fortin and Fredericks connecting for Kirkland Lake while Nathan Avery and Jacob Erwin connected for Iroquois Falls.

Action in the middle stanza favoured the Gold Miners as they struck for four markers to take control of the contest on efforts supplied by Justin Phillips, Maxime Choquette, Brayden Stortz and Fredericks.

David Osborne picked one up on the power play for the Eskis midway through the third to make it 6-3, but Kirkland Lake’s Fortin wrapped things up with a man advantage effort of his own with a second to go to wrap-up the night’s scoring.

Tyler Mazzacato finished with 15 stops to pick-up his 1st NOJHL win for the Gold Miners with Dan Davies facing 31 shots in the loss for Iroquois Falls.

The same two clubs battle in Iroquois Falls tonight at 7:30 at the Jus Jordan Arena.
