The Kirkland Lake GoldMiners have added a trio of newcomers to the roster, in defenseman Roberto Lentini #27 and forwards, Stavros Soilis, who wears #8 and Matt Brassard #10.
98 born defenseman, Roberto Lentini joins us from the Vaughn Kings AAA Midget organization and also saw action in a handful of games for the Toronto Patriots of the OJHL. The 5′ 10″ 190 lb, left shooting dman, has acquitted himself quite well in training camp & the preseason. Coach Lafleur hopes Roberto continues to make a smooth transition to the Jr. A game.
Stavros Soilis joined the club during the Polar Bear Classic and scored his 1st as a GoldMiner, Saturday night against the Crunch. Stav was with the Alexandria Glens of CCHL2 and the Kanata Lasers of the CCHL last season, notching 16 goals & 30 pts in 38 games last season. In his 4th Junior hockey season, Stav has experienced the NOJHL, having suited up with both Powassan & Cochrane, 2 seasons ago. Coach Lafleur is looking for some veteran leadership & offensive punch from the speedy Montrealer.
Completing the trio of newcomers is Matthew Brassard, who joins us from the Toronto Red Wings AAA midgets of the GTHL. The speedster had a breakout year, last season, with 27 goals & 22 assists. Coach Lafleur says, Matt brings speed, quickness & an offensive touch to the Miners attack.
All three newcomers saw plenty of action lat weekend in Cochrane, at the Polar Bear Classic.
