The Kirkland Lake GoldMiners open their 2017-2018 NOJHL season in Powassan Friday night, at the Sportsplex at 7pm.
The defending Copeland Cup Champion Voodoos will have their ring and banner ceremony prior to Friday night’s game.
Saturday, you are invited to the Pinewood Park Motors-GoldMiners Tailgate Party, it goes from 4-7 at the mini soccer field, by the Complex. the players will be on hand from 4-5 for autographs, pictures and a meet & greet. the Bouncy Castle will be there, face painting, balloons for the kids, Potzy’s Cool Treats will there, J & L Fries Chip Truck will feed you, there will be tons of fun to be had, come for the Party, stay for the Game!!
Saturday evening, the GoldMiners open their home schedule, entertaining the French River Rapids, at the Joe Mavrinac Community Complex. the opening ceremony will include player introductions, Kirkland Lake Gold General Manager of the Holt Complex, Sean McCormack will drop the ceremonial first puck.
Season Ticket holders, a reminder, the Miners Den will be open pre game (6:30) and at both intermissions, proudly sponsored by our friends at Kirkland Lake Foodland. The Miners Den is located up behind the visitors bench.
The GoldMiners have a few surprises in store for fans, plus a few new wrinkles, such as Sumo Races and a variation on Chuck-A-Puck, the Tennis Ball Toss, land your ball in the basket and win! The pot escalates if there is no winner, should be fun.
Finally, earlier this week Coach Ryan Wood announced Captain Marshal Nikitin’s assistants, they are: Tyler Fyfe, Max Cavallini and Sam Ellwood.
