Kirkland Lake 11th, Soo 13th in initial Pointstreak CJHL Top 20 rankings of 2015

SUDBURY – The Canadian Junior Hockey League announced its initial version of the Pointstreak Top 20 rankings for 2015 Monday and the top two clubs in the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League held their place among the country’s elite.

The listings, produced in conjunction with International Scouting Services, tabbed the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners 11th in the CJHL and the Soo Thunderbirds 13th.

Kirkland Lake and Sault Ste. Marie sit tied for top spot in the overall NOJHL standings with 56 points apiece, with the Thunderbirds holding one game in hand on the Gold Miners.

Sporting a 27-6-0-2 record the Miners have a winning percentage of .800 while the 26-4-0-4 T-Birds boast a league-best .824 win mark.

The 2015 RBC Cup host Portage Terriers (MJHL) remain the No. 1 team in the CJHL in the rankings.

Jumping up to second nationally is the Spruce Grove Saints (AJHL) while the Penticton Vees (BCHL) round out the top three.
