GoldMiners Coaching Staff Returns

Kirkland Lake GoldMiners Director of Hockey Operations, Derek Callahan, is pleased to announce , Coach & General Manager Ryan Wood has agreed to a new contract for 2018-19, and his coaching staff, Tom Sinclair, Jed Allick & goaltender coach Bryan Bertoncello are all returning as well.

This season Wood has added to the staff with Austin Cline joining the group as Strength & Conditioning Coach. Coach Wood says he is looking forward to the challenge, “having a year under my belt in the NOJHL gives me a better idea of the calibre of athlete needed to succeed in this league”.

Wood adds recruiting is going extremely well at this point, “entering teams in the summer Showcases, can give us an edge in recruiting”.

Gold Hockey Development has participated in 3 so far, with the Boston Showcase yet to come. Coach Wood says one of the goals is, to improve on last year’s 3rd place finish in the Eastern Division.

Again joining Wood on the bench will be longtime veteran assistants Tom Sinclair, Jed Allick along with Bryan Bertoncello, giving continuity to the staff, which Wood says, ” is more important than people realize, we spent last season learning about each other as coaches, that is behind us now, we’re all on the same page from the jump”.

Strength and Conditioning Coach Austin Cline joined the club on an informal basis midway through last season and the Northern Michigan University grad vows, ” we will be the best conditioned team in the league this season!”
