Gold Miners, Thunderbirds crack CJHL preseason rankings

SUDBURY – The Canadian Junior Hockey League announced their Pointstreak preseason rankings for the upcoming 2015-16 campaign and a pair of Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League clubs have garnered recognition.

Both the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners and Soo Thunderbirds cracked the top 10 being tabbed seventh and ninth overall respectively.

Kirkland Lake will serve as the host side for the 2016 Dudley-Hewitt Cup Central Canada Jr. A Championship while Sault Ste. Marie enters the season as the defending NOJHL and Dudley-Hewitt champions.

The following is the Pointstreak CJHL preseason top 20 rankings and five honourable mention teams for the 2015-16:

The Pointstreak CJHL preseason rankings are based upon a variety of factors which includes the league in which the teams belong to, last season’s results in regular season and playoffs as well as initial recruiting efforts for the upcoming season.

The Pointstreak CJHL Top 20 Weekly Rankings will begin on Sept. 28.
