Gold Miners clipped in Rouyn-Noranda

ROUYN-NORANDA, Que. – The Kirkland Lake Gold Miners of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League dropped a 7-3 decision to the Abitibi-Temiscaming Gaillards of Quebec in an exhibition match-up Tuesday night that was held in Rouyn Noranda.

Max Newnam, Casey Gerstein and Ryan Hunter were the goal scorers for Kirkland Lake in the setback while five different skaters collected assists.

Simon Martineau paced the Gold Miners opponents with a pair of tallies with Theo Fourrade contributing by scoring once and dishing out a pair of assists.

The same two teams will meet Thursday to complete a home-and-home as they take to the ice at the Joe Mavrinac Community Complex in Kirkland Lake in a 7:30 p.m. start.
