Captain Quinn Schneidmiller & Other Nuggets

As we get set for the 2018-19 NOJHL season, Coach & GM Ryan Wood is finalizing his opening night roster. This week at our Golf event, Coach Wood announced that Quinn Schneidmiller has been named Captain of the 2018-19 GoldMiners.

Schneidmiller, a 19 year old dman from Edmonton joined us early last season, from the Humboldt Broncos & quickly established himself as a valuable member of the d-corps. A well rounded defenceman, Quinn contributed a couple of goals and 5 assists last season, and looks to improve on those totals in an expanded role this season. Schneidmiller says, “it’s an honour to be named Captain of this club” adding, “I hope to lead by example, and working with our excellent coaching staff, to keep us pulling in one direction as a unit.”

Coach Wood says, “from day 1 of training camp, Quinn has been vocal, in the room & on the ice, he has been conducting himself as Captain, a leader.” Wood says he has been impressed with the leadership qualities of returning vets Gregory Trudeau-Paquet and Josh Maine, ” those 2 along with Quinn have really solidified their roles as leaders during training camp, guiding the rookies thru the grind of training camp.”

The GoldMiners partnered with Kirkland Lake’s 100th Anniversary Committee on a 4 Person Scramble Golf Tournament this week, it was a great success with 16 teams taking part.

The winning foursome was the team of Eric Chamaillard , Drew Enouy, Steph Barrette & Dan Pajunen. Thank you to all sponsors, prize donors, participants, kitchen & bar staff, plus the Pro Shop & course attendants for making it a great day!

Following the Golf Classic, Erin Robazza & the Staff at GoldLand Billiards & Pizza hosted the boys for a team-bonding Pool/Pizza Party. Thanks Erin, they had a blast!

Last week we hosted College Abitibi-Temiscamingue in an exhibition contest at the Joe, we asked for non-perishable food items or monetary donations for the Food Bank, in lieu of admission. Kirkland Lakers & our friends from Rouyn came through once again, with $600.00 and 300 pounds of food donated to the KL Salvation Army Food Bank!
