Bola records 2nd straight shutout as Lumberjacks take down Gold Miners for 6th straight win

HEARST, Ont. – Hearst Lumberjacks goaltender Rahul Bola was equal to the task once again, stopping all 35 shots he faced to record his second straight Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League shutout and his club’s sixth consecutive victory, a 6-0 decision over the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners Friday, with 738 fans on hand at Claude Larose Arena.

Hearst came out strong in the opening frame, outshooting Kirkland Lake 22-9 in the session and they were rewarded with a pair of tallies.

Max Griffioen’s ninth of the season came during a Lumberjacks power play as he scored for a third straight outing and ran a consecutive game point streak to five in the process.

The home side then made it 2-0 with Jake Desando collecting his fourth at 12:48.

It was more Hearst early in the second stanza as Olivier Cloutier-Faucher’s sixth extended his club’s cushion before the frame was a minute old.

At 13:26 on the period, Dominic Dumas added to the Lumberjacks lead as he picked up his ninth overall.

Jordyn Mughal then added one more for the hosts in the back half of the third before Alex Cannon capped off the scoring in the final minute.

Cannon also had two assists in the triumph as did Matthew MacDougall.

Bola has now not allowed a goal against in his past 135 minutes and 50 seconds of game action.

Kirkland Lake’s Kohl Reddy faced 42 attempts in defeat.
