Another GoldMiners Classic in the Books

Last Saturday the Kirkland Lake GoldMiners held their Annual 4 Person Scramble Golf Classic at the Kirkland Lake Golf Club.

Despite a cool cloudy day with some sprinkles we had a wonderful day. We had 80 golfers take part, a record for us, including players families from out of town, representation from a lot of the Hockey Club’s sponsors and a team representing the GoldMiners.

The GoldMiners organization would like to extend our sincere thanks and gratitude to the Kirkland Lake Golf Club, Jean-Guy and Angie went above and beyond. Chammy made sure every team had carts, Angie’s Prime Rib supper was again a highlight, the bar staff kept us all hydrated, many thanks again, for a wonderful day that was topped off by our many great sponsors that donated prizes, so every participant went home with a prize.

Special high-five to Wayne Antoniazzi who donated his 50/50 winnings back to the club.

The winning foursome represented the Town of KL waterworks department, they were 6 under, to win by three!

After the Golf Classic, all the GoldMiners players and Coach Trevor Ritchie were treated to an evening of Pizza and Pool party, courtesy of another great sponsor, Erin Robazza at GoldLand Pizza and Billiards.

Sunday began with the Tailgate Party at Civic Park, big thank you to the Jamie Taylor trio that performed some classic rock during the event, A-V Promotions was on hand with inflatables that kept the kids busy, cheers to the Face-painting Crew organized by Kim Roy and family, and the players who were busy signing autographs for the Miners Nation.

Then the boys capped the opening weekend in style, shutting out Powassan 4-0, Sunday afternoon.

Next stop Hearst for a Friday night matchup with defending league champion Hearst Lumberjacks and their banner raising ceremony, then Timmins, Saturday night at the Mac.
