Ryan, a Winnipeg, Manitoba native, enters his second season as the GoldMiners General Manager and Head Coach.
Ryan led the Club to a solid 3rd place finish in his 1st season as an NOJHL bench boss, before dropping a 2nd round Eastern Conference Playoff series to eventual league champion Cochrane Crunch.
Ryan a former referee, Hockey Canada Ref level 4 & USA Hockey level 3, officiated in the USHL, NAHL, SPHL, IHL & CHL from 2006-2012, including the Turner Cup finals (IHL).
Well connected through officiating, plus his work as Co-creator, Director & Head Coach, with Showcase Hockey Development, providing athletes exposure to junior and College coaches.
Ryan also serves as Ontario Scout for the Maryland Black Bears of the NAHL.
Ryan has also been actively involved as a Coach/Instructor with World Hockey Center summer camps. Through these ventures, Ryan has the reputation of being 'an ace recruiter'.
Tom Sinclair
Advisor & Consultant
Dr Tom is back on the Goldminers staff as an adviser and consultant for Coach & GM Ryan Wood. Over the years with the Gold Miners Tom has contributed to the development of the program in many ways from coaching to construction of team facilities.
Tom works extensively with the GoldMiners defense group, and brings a calm demeanor to the rink every day.
He is an Advanced Level Coach in the Canadian Hockey Association (CHA) and has been a Master Course Conductor and Master Mentor in the CHA.. He has presented at over 100 clinics from Initiation to Advanced in the CHA in addition to being a Level 111 Theory Instructor in the National Coaching Certification Program. Tom also designed and supervised the Gold Miner Study Hall and promotions of players beyond the junior level. Tom holds a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota.
Bryan Bertoncello
Assistant Coach
Bryan Bertoncello, is back for his fifth season as GoldMiners Goaltending Coach. Bryan has extensive coaching experience in minor hockey, as well as serving as goaltending coach/consultant, for a number of years with the AAA Midget KL Legion 87's.
As a player, Bryan was the Great North Midget League Goalie of the Year, for the Soo, in the 90's as well as spending parts of 2 seasons with the Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds in the OHL. Bryan always has a great rapport with his young netminders due to his easy-going, but sometimes fiery persona, a huge part of Ryan Wood's staff.
Jed Allick
Assistant Coach
Veteran assistant Coach Jed Allick returns to Coach Ryan Wood's GoldMiners coaching staff. Jed brings a wealth of experience to Coach Wood's staff, having been Head Coach with the Kirkland Lake Legion 87's AAA Midgets in the Great North Midget League. Jed was also a longtime Kirkland Lake Minor Hockey Association Coach and served as an instructor at numerous NOHA Development camps over the years.
Jed, in his fifth season with the GoldMiners, brings a creative offensive mind to the game and a calm demeanour behind the bench. Although, due to work considerations, Jed will serve in a part-time capacity, Coach Wood is glad to have Jed back as part of his staff, to rely on his creativity and NOJHL experience.
