KIRKLAND LAKE - The Kirkland Lake Gold Miners have traded forward Luc Soares to the Carleton Place Junior A Canadians. In his first season with the Gold Miners the Delta B.C. native scored 24 goals and added 28 assists for 52 points in 49 games. The Gold Miners says they would like to wish Luc all the best with his new team in the CCHL.

For his part Soares says he is looking forward to playing for Carleton Place but added he will miss Kirkland Lake and the Gold Miners.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to play for a team who has gone to the RBC cup two years in a row and will hopefully be able to do it this year coming up. I couldn’t have asked for a better rookie year of junior hockey in the great town of Kirkland lake. The town supported the team all the way through until the unfortunate first round loss to Powassan. I want to thank the Burnside’s and the Brousseau`s for opening there doors and allowing me to become part of the family. It’s a great honour for the town to be hosting the Dudley Hewitt cup and I’m excited to hear about the success that this event will have. Knowing and having played for Coach Marc he will have his team ready to win that cup.“
