Season Wrap Up & Looking Ahead

The 2019/2020 Kirkland Lake GoldMiners hockey season wrapped up this past weekend with a hard fought battle with the Cochrane Crunch thus bringing to an end this season and starting in motion planning for the 2020/2021 season .

“Our first step is to secure a full time head coach and general manager . The club was excited to bring in Kyle Smart mid season and his knowledge of system development and the
ability to teach to these young men was very evident from the beginning” says Steve Cox , President of the KL Goldminers,

“We are just finalizing this season with player and coaching
staff exit interviews,  and our first goal is to be ready to go as soon as possible with coaching staff in place and aggressive recruiting efforts ongoing .”

The GoldMiners have a potential of 15 returning players available to start the season with next year , but realistically we would have to assume that they all will not be returning for various reasons , says Derek Callahan , Vice President of Hockey Operations , so we need to begin recruiting immediately , we will be in attendance at the various Spring Hockey Tournaments evaluating potential players as well as we have already been contacted by a few players who have expressed an interest in our program .

Finally the GoldMiners want to take the opportunity to thank our team Volunteers, our Billet Families , our many sponsors in the community as well as every single member of the “Miner Nation ” who supported our efforts this season . This is truly the definition of a community based organization and it cannot continue without the support of the community.

The GoldMiners will be holding our annual general meeting in early June and we are always looking for fresh new ideas to assist in the development of our program,  additionally,  look for our booth at the CJKL Merchant Mania in May, 2020 to secure your season tickets for the 2020/2021 season , and stayed tuned for further announcements throughout the  spring and summer months.
Until then – Thank you once again …see you all  next season
