The Kirkland Lake Goldminers announced today the addition of Rick Witty as assistant coach for the
club for the 2022-2023 season .
“Rick brings a stability and continuity factor to our club in allowing Head Coach Kyle Smart to focus on
forwards and special teams while Coach Witty will be running the controls defensively “ said Derek

The club looks forward to Rick joining the organization as they hit the ice next week with the start of
their open camp which will be held in Haileybury , ON , before the club returns home to the friendly
environment of the Kirkland Lake Community Complex the week of August 29th in preparation for their
NOJHL season opener in Timmins taking on the Rock on Friday September 9 th and then their home
opener on Saturday September 10 th , 2023 starting at 7:00 PM again against the Timmins Rock .
