IROQUOIS FALLS, Ont. – The Pelham Panthers (GOJHL) picked up a pair of goals from Noah Capercione to aid in a 5-1 triumph over the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners Saturday in Day 2 play of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Polar Bear Classic, hosted by the Cochrane Crunch, at Jus Jordan Arena in Iroquois Falls.
Caperchione got the Panthers going offensively with the love tally of the first period 10:43 in.
Pelham added two more markers in the middle session to take a 3-0 lead after 40 minutes compliments of a shorthanded effort by Nathan Gallen while Zach Thompson added one at even strength.
The Panthers kept it going in the third on goals by Caperchione and Curtis Emery to extend their cushion.
Kirkland Lake would dash Pelham netminder Nick Kidd’s shutout bid with 3:20 left in the contest as Josh Maine connected with assists going to Gregory Trudeau-Paquet and Jordan Kohlman.
Parker Svanson and Xavier Garneau split duties in goal for the Gold Miners in defeat while Kidd picked up the win.
