SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Monday that the forward trio of Parker Bowman (Powassan Voodoos); Mitchell Martin (Rayside-Balfour Canadians) and Landis Antonic (Kirkland Lake Gold Miners) have been selected its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending Sept. 29.
PARKER BOWMAN, (F) POWASSAN VOODOOS – A four-goal week in a pair of victories over French River highlighted Bowman’s overall efforts in helping the Voodoos run a winning streak to six in succession.
One of his markers was a game-winner while the 20-year-old Bracebridge, Ont., product has now scored in six consecutive games for Powassan while boasting four multi-point outings in a row.
Bowman’s offensive run has seen him soar to second in league offensive production with 11 tallies and five assists overall.
He also leads all NOJHL skaters in power play goals with eight.
MITCHELL MARTIN, (F) RAYSIDE-BALFOUR CANADIANS – As one of the youngest players in the NOJHL this season, Martin has made an immediate impression with the Canadians.
The 16-year-old from Sudbury supplied four points during the time frame in a trio of Rayside-Balfour victories.
Martin began with a goal in a triumph over the Soo Eagles, followed that up with a pair of markers, including the game-winner, in a decision of Espanola then capped things off with an assist in an overtime victory at Kirkland Lake helping the Canadians win their seventh straight contest.
He enters play this week sporting a six-game point streak, having scored four times and setting up three others in the process.
LANDIS ANTONIC, (F) KIRKLAND LAKE GOLD MINERS – The 20-year-old from Caledonia, Ont., had tallies in all three Gold Miners games last week helping his club go 2-0-1 overall.
Antonic scored twice, that featured the difference maker, and added an assist in a home win over Cochrane, collected a shorthanded goal in a triumph over Espanola then wrapped up his week with a marker in an overtime setback vs. Rayside-Balfour.
In his first year in the league, Antonic currently shares his team’s lead in scoring with seven points in eight outings, including four goals.
