Another graduating member of the Kirkland Lake GoldMiners has landed an NCAA D-III commitment, as Nick Richards has agreed to join the King’s College Monarchs of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
The 21 yr old 6’3″ 200 lb defenseman from Lapeer, Michigan, joined the Miners midway through last season and became a valuable member of the Miners D-corps.
Nick says,” King’s College was in contact with me several times during the season, along with a couple of other schools, but really stepped it up once our season ended.” Nick adds, “the program is entering just it’s 3rd year in D-III, so it is building, with opportunities to step in and contribute right away.”
King’s College plays in the MAC, UCHC D-III ranks of the NCAA and is known for it’s Business & Accounting Programs, which just happen to be Nick’s chosen field of study.
That was a big selling point, then Nick says, ” after I visited & met with the guys on the team & Coach Mallaro and his staff, it felt like a good fit.”
Nick would like to thank his team-mates of the last couple of years, constantly pushing him to be a better player, along with coaches and billets for their guidance and of course, ” my parents and family, for supporting me from day one.”
Nick Richards becomes the 2nd grad from last year’s roster to head to the NCAA, joining Dawson Rodin, who will attend Marian University, in Wisconsin.
