Miners add Ty Cousineau to the Defence Corps

The Kirkland Lake Gold Miners are pleased to announce they have obtained the rights to 1997 born D-man Ty Cousineau (Minnetonka, MN) from the Melville Millionaires of the SJHL.  Ty started the year with the Brooks Bandits of the AJHL and is expected to bring solid two-way play to the blue line.  Cousineau is a 5’ 11’, 185lb defenceman who likes to contribute at both ends of the rink. Upon hearing of the trade Ty had the following comments: “I am anxious to play for Kirkland Lake and contribute to the winning tradition, I’m excited to be moving to Kirkland Lake and play for some great hockey fans”.

Head Coach & GM Marc Lafleur is pleased with addition saying, “at this level you can never have too many quality defencemen.” Coach Lafleur adds, “Ty will add to our skill level at both ends of the rink.”

Ty Cousineau is expected to make his Miners debut tomorrow night (Oct 7th) when the Miners start a 3 game road trip in Timmins, followed by Friday against the 3rd ranked Powassan Voodoos & wrap up the trip Saturday night in Noelville against the French River Rapids.
