Miners Add Goalie & Dman

The Kirkland Lake GoldMiners continue to tinker with the training camp roster, adding goaltender Jeff Veitch from B.C. along with defenseman Kelsey Katchuik from Alberta.

The GoldMiners have also sent Brett Ouderkirk to the Kingston Vees of the OJHL and Brody Maracle has been dealt to the Napanee Raiders Jr C club.

The GoldMiners have signed 18 yr old goaltender Jeff Veitch. 6’2″, 210, from Mission, B.C., Jeff has spent the last 3 seasons with Mission City Outlaws, of the Pacific Junior Hockey League,  last year compiling a 13 & 5 record, with a 2.44 GAA & .913 save percentage. Last season, Jeff had the PJHL’s Best Save Percentage & Best GAA, along with taking his team to the Championship. Coach Lafleur expects Jeff to come in and push Victor-Olivier Courchesne, and battle, for the number 1 job!

The GoldMiners are pleased to add Kelsey Katchuik to the roster. The 19 yr old, right-hand shooting defenseman, is from Innisfail, Alberta. Kelsey, 5’9″ 185, played in the GMHL last season with the Shelburne Sharks and Alliston Coyotes, totalling 21 points in 39 games to go along with 111 pims. Coach Lafleur is happy to add another experienced Jr A defenseman to the lineup.
