Max Newnam Makes NCAA Commitment

Max Newnam of the Kirkland Lake GoldMiners has announced his commitment to join the Nichols College Bisons, in Dudley, Massachusetts, of the NCAA D-III ranks in September.

Newnam a 21 year-old from Easton, Maryland, spent last season with the GoldMiners, scoring 14 times with 21 assists and 73 pims. Newnam sacrificed some offensive production, by volunteering to move back to defence, when the team was besieged by injuries on the back end. Max also played the ‘mentor role’ with many of the GoldMiners rookie junior players last season, as he took on more of a leadership role in his final junior hockey season.

Newnam would like to express his appreciation and gratitude to his family, “for the constant support in the journey”, billets, coaches, teammates along the way,” who all had a hand in my development as a player and person”. Finally, Max would like to thank “the best, most supportive fans in the NOJHL’, it was fun playing in front of the home fans, “knowing that on any given night, there’d be former NHL’ers watching you perform at the Joe”.

Next season in the Commonwealth Coast Conference, Max will butt heads with former teammate Vinny DeSanctis, at Wentworth College, a conference rival.
