Kirkland Lake GoldMiners Coach & General Manager Trevor Ritchie announces the club has re-acquired the CJHL rights, to 20 yr old forward Max Newnam and a PDF in a trade with Powassan Voodoos. In the deal, the GoldMiners send 20 yr old Sam Ellwood to Powassan, Ellwood scored 13 times and had 30 pts last season for the GoldMiners.

The 6’3″ 190 lb Newnam started last season with the GoldMiners and scored 12 goals and 20 pts in 21 games before being dealt to Powassan.

Coach Ritchie says “Newnam is a goal scorer! Something every team needs and we are glad to be able to bring him back, we expect him to be one of our offensive leaders and a big part of our power play.”

Newnam, from Easton, Maryland,  is “ecstatic” to be a GoldMiner again. “I loved my time there last year, and didn’t really want to leave….but stuff happens.”  Max is looking forward to “playing in front of the great fans at the Joe again!”
