TIMMINS, Ont. – A 27-save performance from Timmins Rock netminder Tyler Masternak accounted for his Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League-leading fifth shutout of the season as he and his side blanked the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners 4-0 Saturday at McIntyre Arena.
Action in the opening frame saw Timmins pick up the lone marker in the session at 11:25 when Tyler Gilberds picked up his 11th goal of the year in what proved to be the game-winner.
The Rock would then break it open offensively in the middle stanza as they collected a trio of tallies, with Josh Dickson connecting twice, sandwiched around a single off the stick of Cameron Kosurko.
Masternak and the Timmins defensive corps did the rest in what proved to be the ninth time this season the Rock have kept opponents of the score sheet in games so far in the campaign, which also tops the league.
Dishing out three assists in the triumph was Rock captain Derek Seguin.
Kirkland Lake goalkeeper Kyle McNair faced 34 attempts in defeat.
