Since the release of its Return to Hockey Framework on June 10, 2020 from the Ontario Hockey Federation , The Kirkland Lake Goldminers have worked in conjunction with Ontario’s Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Cultural Industries, the various sport governing bodies, as well as the Town of Kirkland Lake Community Services Department staff to get our players back on the ice safely in Kirkland Lake for the 2020-2021 Hockey Season .
Requirements that have been put in place to date will ensure a safe return to the game, compliance with all Ontario laws, insurance coverage for players and facilities and validation that individuals operating on ice meet all OHF and Hockey Canada standards. To date , we are awaiting word from the Ontario Hockey Federation, The Northern Ontario Hockey Association and the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League on when we can move forward with a more traditional programming model . We fully understand Social Distancing is here to stay for the foreseeable future and will have an effect on just about everything we will be doing in and around the operation of a junior hockey franchise here in Ontario.
We continue to work diligently in recruiting players , both returning members from last year’s team as well as players that fit the model of our organization to build the 2020-2021 version of the Kirkland Lake Goldminers and we look forward to making some player announcements in the immediate future . When we receive firm commitments from the various governing bodies, we will be able to share more information with the community.
The Kirkland Lake Goldminers wish everyone a very Happy Canada Day and we look forward to seeing everyone for the 2020-2021 season with a safe return for our returning players and new arrivals as well as our staff , and most importantly our fans, as we continue to focus on returning hockey back to Kirkland Lake.
