GoldMiners Win Again at the EHL Showcase

The Kirkland Lake GoldMiners played their 2nd game of the Eastern Hockey League Showcase Series in Newington, Connecticut , Friday afternoon. The GoldMiners faced off against the Walpole (Mass.) Express, and jumped out to a 3-0 lead, on 1st half goals by Noah Cauchi and Colin Cromie, while Jordan Michaud put the boys up 3 on a pretty backhander midway thru the second half.

Walpole had their chances, outshooting Kirkland Lake 23-18 in the opening half, but Miners goaltender Greg Brassard, made some huge saves in the first half.

Walpole continued to press and eventually broke through with a pair of late 2nd half goals to make it interesting, but Kirkland Lake weathered the late flurry to hang on for a 3-2 win.

Earlier in the day, the squad was treated to a campus and athletic facility tour of the University of Connecticut, by UConn Mens Hockey.

Tomorrow it is on to New Hampshire for a visit to the University of Southern New Hampshire and a game against the EHL’s top team, the New Hampshire Avalanche, it should be a real good test for the NOJHL’s Eastern Conference leader.
