After a couple of Covid related postponements, the Kirkland Lake Goldminers Junior A Hockey Club are very pleased to continue our tradition of honouring Kirkland Lake Championship Hockey programs from the past when we partner with the Northern College Alumni on Saturday, October 22nd, 2022 to pay tribute to the 1970-71 Northern College Huskies who captured the Ontario Collegiate Athletic Association Championship. We will be wearing replica sweaters like the ones the Huskies wore when they line up against the Timmins Rock for a 7 pm game.
Northern College and it’s Alumni have also planned a number of Homecoming type events through the weekend to celebrate the rich history of the Kirkland Lake campus. There are many of activities planned around the game, such as free Northern College giveaways, a sweater auction and much more…there will also be a Huskies display in the lobby and much more.
Special $5.00 tickets will be available to all Northern College Students and Staff at any of the Campuses and arrangements are also being made for transportation from Timmins and Haileybury.
Northern College Huskies Alumni will be admitted at no charge.
This is the fourth such celebration as the Miners have honoured the 1940 Lakeshore Blue Devils, KL Holy Name Irish and of course they continue to honour the Legion Program each Remembrance Day, when they wear the classic 1950’s uniforms.
