GoldMiners Pre-Season Notebook & Datebook

The Kirkland Lake GoldMiners are feverishly preparing for the new season both on and off the ice. The Club has a number of exciting events planned for the season, which kicks off September 8th when we host rival Powassan Voodoos.

 

This Saturday, August 18th, the Kirkland Lake 100th Anniversary Committee & KL Rotary are teaming up for a Ribfest & Craft Fair, from Noon till 9pm at Civic Park.

Officials from the GoldMiners will be on hand manning a table with our latest Season Ticket offer, $200.00 for Adults & Seniors & $100.00 for youths (u18), plus Special Family rates (ask for details). Hope to see you at Civic Park, Saturday. You may get a chance for a selfie with goaltender Cade McEwen.

Training Camp officially opens Monday, Aug 27th with on & off ice sessions, most of the gang will be trickling into town on the weekend.

The pre-season schedule opens Tuesday Aug 28th as the GoldMiners will head to Rouyn-Noranda to face the first year Abitibi-Temiskaming College Gaillards, from the Quebec CEGEP (college) League. The Gaillards will pay us a return visit, just firming up the date for that.

The Polar Bear Classic takes place in Cochrane, Labour Day weekend, we will face French River, Friday at 3:30pm, then Saturday we face the Pelham Panthers of the GOJHL at 10:30am & the Cochrane Crunch at 6:00pm. Playoff round goes Sunday.

The Kirkland Lake GoldMiners 4 Person Scramble Golf Classic goes Tuesday, September 4th at the KLGC. It is a 2pm shotgun start, with a $10,000.00 Hole in One contest, Prime Rib dinner, Player introductions, prizes and a twist or two! Saturday, September 8th is our Season Opening Tailgate Party at Civic. Join us to celebrate the opening of the new season from Noon-3pm, meet the team, coaching & support staff, enjoy music, inflatables, games & food too. It’s always a great day for a season opener!

 

Then we host our rivals, Powassan Voodoos at 7:00 to kick off the 2018-2019 season, it’s gonna be a beauty!
