GoldMiners Add Offence in Nash Smith

Kirkland Lake GoldMiners Head Coach & GM Ryan Wood is pleased to announce Nash Smith, a 17 year-old, 5’10” 175 lb forward has signed with the club. Coach Wood says, “Nash played on our Gold Hockey Development Summer Showcase team, and was a standout!”

Smith had a big year with his Moncton Flyers AAA Midgets, in New Brunswick last season, leading his team in goals with 21 on their way to an appearance at the National Championships, the Telus Cup.

Coach Wood says, “all this kid does is score, he takes the puck to the net, he’s got great hand-eye coordination, a wizard at tip-ins.”

Smith says a shooting gallery in the basement at home helped develop his quick release and accurate shot. Smith also worked on his all round game last year, becoming a more complete player.

The GoldMiners open training camp August 26th, with the 1st preseason game on the 28th in Rouyn vs Abitibi-Temiskaming Gaillards, a first year team in the Quebec CEGEP (college) League.
