COCHRANE, Ont. – The Kirkland Lake Gold Miners got goals from four different skaters as part of a 4-1 triumph over the Cochrane Crunch Friday in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play at Tim Horton Events Centre.

The visiting Gold Miners got on the board first as Luca Maiuri was there to jam in a rebound off a right point shot by William Neeld at 4:55.

Adding to their lead in the second stanza, Kirkland Lake’s Ian McDonald picked the bottom right corner on Jake Dubinsky four minutes into the session.

Cochrane countered with one of their own at 6:08, thanks to Nathan MacDonald swatting in a rebound by Ethan Barron off a Blake Menard attempt.

Regaining their two-goal cushion before the second intermission, the Gold Miners picked off a Crunch clearing attempt, which eventually led to Jean-Paul Scaringi finishing off a close-range backhand to the left of Dubinsky.

Kirkland Lake then capped off the road triumph when Benjamin Armatage put one into an empty net from centre ice to complete the victory, which was the first for recently appointed head coach Richard Schoeneich.
