The Kirkland Lake Gold Miners have announced they have acquired 19-year-old forward Tyler Sweat.

The Gold Miners acquired the 5’10, 185 pounder who hails from Collingwood, from the Midland Flyers of the Provincial Junior Hockey League.

During the 2022/2023 season with Midland, Sweat collected 9 goals and 8 assists in 35 regular season games and another three assists in four playoff games.

Gold Miners general manager Jamy Bernier says Sweat “brings some junior experience and grit (and) likes to model his game after Boston Bruins Brad Marchand. The right-handed forward plays a hard-nosed game with some offensive touch.

“Tyler has great mobility and grit and is a forward we believe can play up and down the line up on many deferent roles.”
