The Kirkland Lake Gold Miners have acquired left-handed defenceman Aiden Beavan from the Victoria Cougars of the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League for a player development fee (PDF).

The 6’1” 185 pound 18-year-old who hails from Victoria played 73 games for his hometown Cougars over the past two seasons, collecting sixteen points on three goals and 13 assists with 32 minutes in penalties.

Gold Miners’ general manager Jamy Bernier says Beavan “will provide that top pairing defensive presence the Miners are looking for.”

He adds “we are excited to have a player like Beavan come join the Miners as we turn the tides here. He is a quality hockey player and a great young man who can play both the power play and penalty kill.”
