TIMMINS, Ont. – The Kirkland Lake Gold Miners collected a pair of tallies and an assist from Tyler Fyfe to help them defeat the Timmins Rock 3-1 in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League match-up Tuesday at McIntyre Arena.
The visiting Gold Miners were quick to strike in this one thanks to Fyfe’s 21st marker of the season while also extending a modest point streak to four along the way.
Timmins’ affiliate Riley Brosseau tied it at 16:45 of the middle frame only to see Kirkland Lake go back in front 80 seconds later as Marshal Nikitin notched the eventual game-winner.
Heading into the final stanza Fyfe iced it with his second of the evening, as well as club-best 22nd of the campaign and 50th NOJHL goal in just a season and a half in the league.
Gold Miners’ starter Ryan Winter was busy in net for his side making 39 stops along the way to record the victory.
Rock netminder Tyler Masternak faced 20 attempts in defeat.
With the outcome, Kirkland Lake improves to 14-11-4-2 on the year while Timmins slips to 10-18-1-2.
