Fredericks on fire as Gold Miners down Eskis
IROQUOIS FALLS, Ont. – The hottest player in the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League continued his impressive play Saturday as Logan Fredericks scored four times and dished out two assists for a six-point night as the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners downed the Iroquois Falls Eskis 7-1 at Jus Jordan Arena.
After a classy ceremony honoring both the GoldMiners and Eskis graduating juniors, and their billet families, we got underway.
Iroquois Falls did open the scoring in this one, striking just 36 seconds after the opening face-off beating Kirkland Lake starter Joe Marcoullier for his 26th tally of the campaign.
It was all Gold Miners after that however starting with Blake Anderson’s 10th at 3:56.
Fredericks first of the night at 13:31 of the frame put the visitors in front for good as the two sides headed to the intermission.
Kirkland Lake added two more markers in the middle session to up 4-1 after 40 minutes on efforts supplied by Andrew Cordssen-David and Fredericks.
Fredericks was at it again 68 seconds into the third then set-up Brayden Stortz for his 37th at 4:19.
He then capped off his offensive outburst with his fourth of the evening and 50th goal overall at 8:37 to round out the scoring.
Fredericks has now amassed 19 points in his past four outings and has only been held off the score sheet once in his past 19 games.
Stortz chipped in with two assists of his own to go along with his goal giving him 96 points in total heading into the Gold Miners regular season finale Wednesday at Timmins.
Marcoullier made 40 saves to register the win for Kirkland Lake.
Matthew Camilleri started for the Eskis and suffered the loss allowing three against on 19 shots.
Joe Sheppard entered the game midway through for Iroquois Falls and stopped 10 of 14 in relief.
