CALGARY, Alberta – (July 25, 2016) – The Canadian Junior Hockey League is pleased to announce a reorganization of the leadership and operational structure of its head office. As part of the reorganization, Kirk Lamb has agreed to remain as Chair of the Board. He will continue representing the CJHL in its key relationships, establishing and enhancing strategic hockey partnerships, and advising the CJHL board and member leagues on national and regional policy and priorities. He will also provide advice and support to the CJHL Executive Director and a newly-formed Executive Committee.
“The reorganization allows me to stay involved in the game and really focus my time and attention on establishing and growing our most important partnerships and relationships. I am very excited to remain with the CJHL and help grow the Junior A game, its influence and its profile. I thank the CJHL board for allowing me to continue in this capacity,” said Lamb.
The CJHL is also pleased to announce that Rick Morocco will remain as Executive Director and be the primary contact and responsible for all day-to-day operations of the CJHL and implementation of CJHL partnerships and initiatives.
“It is very important for the CJHL to have the continuity and organizational knowledge that Rick possesses as we move forward through and beyond this reorganization,” stated Chairman Kirk Lamb. “Rick has a wealth of knowledge in sports administration and operations. We are fortunate to have him as part of our team to be able to draw on his experience.”
The reorganization also sees the establishment of a new CJHL Executive Committee to oversee and carryout a number of operational responsibilities, including the implementation of the CJHL strategic plan and of its partnerships and initiatives. The CJHL Treasurer position will continue to be filled by Robert Mazzuca (NOJHL), who will also be responsible for management of CJHL financial affairs.
“The CJHL and its member teams and leagues are excited to have Kirk Lamb remain at the helm under a new structure that allows his expertise to be best used in the interests of Junior A hockey in Canada, said Kevin Abrams 1st Vice Chair, CJHL Executive Committee.” “His leadership and vision have been invaluable and it was incumbent on the member leagues and my colleagues to ensure the continuation of the growth and development of the CJHL was part of retaining Kirk as the Chairman while adding some additional areas of responsibility to the CJHL Board.”
