Gold Miners’ Blake Anderson commits to D-III Wisconsin-River Falls of NCAA

KIRKLAND LAKE, Ont. – The Kirkland Lake Gold Miners of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced  that defenceman Blake Anderson has committed to play NCAA hockey next season at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.

The 20-year-old Anderson, who hails from Madison, Wis., topped all blueliners on the Gold Miners in offensive production during the course of the regular season amassing over a point-per-game with 44 in 41 outings on 11 tallies and 33 helpers with his point total being the fourth highest among all NOJHL rearguards.

The Gold Miners’ blueliner will be joining a River Falls Falcons side that finished first atop the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference standings in 2015-16 before falling in double overtime in the WIAC final to eventual NCAA D-III champion Wisconsin-Stevens Point.

The Pointers also featured a pair of Kirkland Lake and NOJHL alumni in defenceman Ethan Strong and Ryan Scherer on their roster.
