2 For Tuesday, GoldMiners Add a Pair

Coach & General Manager Ryan Wood announced a pair of signees today, North Bay’s Joe Whittet, a forward, along with Toronto defenseman Troy Murray.

Whittet, a 5″11″ 180 lb, feisty forward, joins us from the North Bay Trappers AAA program of the Great North Midget League, where, in 96 games over 3 seasons, Joe notched 80 points and added 204 pims. Last season saw Joe finish 2nd on the Trappers in goals & 5th in points. Joe added 19 pts in 23 playoff games with the Trappers.

Coach Wood says, “Joe brings a physical presence to the rink, he’s hard to play against, and he’s got offensive skills!”

Joe comes to us having had a taste of the NOJHL, having suited up for 6 games over 2 seasons, as an AP, with the Powassan Voodoos, scoring once and adding an assist.

Meanwhile, Coach & GM Ryan Wood continues to build a sizeable d-corps, signing 6’3″ 210 lb defenseman Troy Murray. The 19 yr old left shooting dman from Toronto, split last season between the Newmarket Hurricanes in the OJHL & North York in the GMHL.

Murray, primarily a stay at home defenseman, had a taste of the NOJHL 2 seasons ago, playing 38 games, split between Blind River & Elliot Lake.

Coach Wood says, “this is an experienced Jr A defenseman who had options, but chose us & we’re glad he did.”
