Kirkland Lake GoldMiners Coach & GM Ryan Wood continues to build his roster, signing power forward Declan Carter. The 6’3″ 190 lb, 17 yr old, joins the GoldMiners from the very prestigious and highly regarded Notre Dame program in Saskatchewan. Declan had a taste of Jr hockey, appearing as an AP with both the Atlanta Jr Knights of the USP3HL & the Notre Dame Hounds of the SJHL.

Declan decribes himself as “being a big presence on the ice, who’ll battle in the corners and can chip in offensively when needed.”

Declan, whose father, Grant, was an NFL/CFL linebacker/defensive end, is a character kid, with leadership skills, who was the Captain of his AAA Midget club last season.

Declan says he chose the GoldMiners because, ” I believe Coach Wood is building a winner & I’m real excited to be a part of it.”  Declan adds, “Kirkland Lake has a great fan base & it’s going to be fun representing the GoldMiners this season.”

Coach Wood describes the Winnipeg born, Atlanta, Georgia young man with dual citizenship, as “a straight ahead, honest, hard working physical player, with nice offensive upside.
