With everyone refreshed and ready to go after the Christmas break, the GoldMiners, to a man, are ready to make a run in the final 17 games of the regular season.
Things get underway Friday night at 7:30 at the Complex when the Timmins Rock visit, the Rock, currently 3rd in the East with 44 pts, 9 in front of 4th place Kirkland Lake. Speaking on CJKL FM Thursday morning, Coach Lafleur said, ” despite being 4th, we feel we are better than that, having let 4 or 5 games get away from us when we had a late lead.” Lafleur also mentioned how pleased goalie instructor Brian Bertoncello is with the work habits of newcomers Ridge Gerads and Allan Menary.
Sunday afternoon at 4pm (note the gametime change), the GoldMiners host Canada’s hottest club, the Powassan Voodoos, who lead the league with 61 pts, winners of 23 straight, as of Thursday, at the Joe.
The Voodoos currently ranked #2 in Canada, stop in Cochrane Friday night & Iroquois Falls Saturday, before the KL matinee Sunday at 4pm.
