Ryan Swain scores the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners’ first goal in Friday’s 9-0 win over Blind River in NOJHL action from Kirkland Lake

KIRKLAND LAKE - The Kirkland Lake Gold Miners easily defeated the Blind River Beavers, 9-0 in NOJHL action Friday night at the Joe Mavrinac Community Complex.

The Miners came out strong from the drop of the puck and opened the scoring just under five minutes into the frame when Ryan Swain found the back of the net. Through the rest of the period Kirkland Lake continued the presser and with just under five minutes left Dylan Rosen scored to give Kirkland Lake the 2-0 lead heading into the dressing room.

Kirkland Lake turned up the offence in the second stanza with goals from Tyler Romain, Joel Fortin and Steven Babin and it was 5-0 after two periods.

The third period saw Kirkland Lake keep the pedal to the floor as they got goals from Luc Soares, Mick Nisbet, Ethan Strong and a second goal from Rosen.

Rookie goalie Devon Debastos picked up the shut out win for the Miners.
