Former GoldMiner Sam Wilbur Turns Pro

Former KL GoldMiner Sam Wilbur, 2013-14, 73 points in 44 games, signed with the Tulsa Oilers of the ECHL,following the conclusion of his NCAA season at Fredonia.

The 25 yr old Saginaw, Michigan native, suited up for 12 games with the Tulsa Oilers, managing 2 goals & 2 assists, but more importantly, impressing the staff to the point, where he will be one of 8 protected skaters allowed per team each season.

Sam says he is grateful to Kirkland Lake GoldMiners organization, “they gave me my start, they let me blossom offensively.”

Which led to Sam attending SUNY-Fredonia where he led the Blue Devils in scoring as a Junior and repeated the feat as a Senior.

Sam says, “Fredonia was a great place for me to build and grow as a player.” One of the immediately noticeable differences in the Pro game, was the speed of the game. That’s one of he things he will focus on, in off season training.
