CAPTAIN MARSH IS OFF TO NORTHLAND COLLEGE!

The GoldMiners are thrilled to announce a third member of our graduating juniors, Captain Marshal Nikitin has fulfilled a goal, committing to Northland College, in Ashland, Wisconsin. The Lumberjacks are an NCAA D-III member, of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association.

Marsh the 20 year old Captain of his hometown club, says he plans on studying Business, majoring in Management, come September at Northland.

Coach Seamus Gregory and his recruiting staff first contacted Marsh, after watching him again, in the NOJHL Showcase event, last October. The courtship continued through the season, concluding recently with the decision.

The Nikitin Family, Mom, Dad & brother are excited that Marsh gets a chance to further his education, while playing the game he loves.

As far as the hockey team goes, Marsh says, “Coach has made no promises, but says I can play in their top 9 as a freshman, it’s up to me to buy in, and seize the opportunity.”

The fact that Northland currently has 8 ex NOJHL’ers on the roster, ” demonstrates that our league is being recognized more each year for its potential and calibre of play.”

Marsh was looking at the Lumberjacks current schedule and sees games against former teammates Ashton Amaya & Dalton Anderson, former GoldMiners Austin Rust and Blake Anderson plus a game against current teammate Max Cavallini at Lake Forest College. Marsh says, “it’ll be a cool experience battling those former teammates next year, and it should make the whole college hockey experience more fun!”

Marsh says, “without quality teammates & coaches, along with the wonderful support of my family and friends, this wouldn’t be possible.”

Before any of that happens, the Captain and his squad have some playoff business to take care of.
